Few Bits, our Belgian pride, also formed in the slipstream of such groups as Warpaint and Beach House. This band, whose creative dynamo is Karolien Van Ransbeeck, surfs on a wave of dreamy indie pop, mysterious melodies and even a hint of psychedelia. Her numbers, smouldering somewhere between sleep and wakefulness, do not cry out for attention, but tap you gently on the shoulder and then slowly embrace you, never to let go. Yet there is sometimes something prickly about Van Ransbeeck's warm embrace: as if she were wrapping you in a velvet sheet in which a pin cushion suddenly appeared to be hidden. This is also reflected in the new album, 'Big Sparks': you drown in a ten-part ocean of delectable indie pop songs and delightful harmonies. And the five stars for their show at Pukkelpop in 2016 prove that Few Bits do fantastically well live too. They displayed world class as the support for The War On Drugs, The Lemonheads and Vampire Weekend. Still little known at home, but they have already scored well abroad. Time to conquer Belgium!
