The Mythos music festival illuminates Orpheus and Eurydice as a mirror of time
Orpheus and Eurydice are never far away. The most famous love match in Greek mythology has for centuries been a great source of inspiration for Western artists. From Ovid to Pieter Paul Rubens to Nick Cave. From Claudio Monteverdi to Jean Cocteau to Salvatore Sciarrino. Anyone who looks back for a while will discover an abundance of interpretations. The Mythos music festival immerses you in this rich story for a whole weekend. A opera by Telemann, a symphony by Stravinsky, or would you prefer contemporary music? In Sciarrino's new Eurydice, the most beautiful nymph is no longer waiting to be saved by Orpheus. Here she is an autonomous woman who chooses her own path. So these are not evergreens, but surprising perspectives in which we narrate the history of van Orpheus and Eurydice as a mirror of time.
