Egyptian vocals, jazz and poetry in an intense, spiritual listening experience.
Abdullah Miniawy is an Egyptian composer, writer, and singer. His album Le Cri du Caire won the Victoires du Jazz in 2023, the most prestigious French jazz award. Together with French trombonists Robinson Khoury and Jules Boittin, he forms a trio that intertwines jazz influences with the soundscape of Egypt.
The trio takes the audience on an intense auditory journey in which inspiration, stillness, and Sufi influences converge. Their music moves between jazz, poetic vocals, and cosmopolitan sounds, at times as chaotic and layered as the din of Cairo's traffic.
Rooted in the compositions and lyrics of Abdullah Miniawy, a hybrid musical universe emerges, blending baroque and operatic influences with Coptic vocal traditions and contemporary soundscapes. The trio thus seeks not only to explore musical boundaries, but also to provoke reflection on today’s world.
