A cathartic performance about crisis, protest and the power of noise.
In a 'catastrophic lecture opera,' Club Gewalt poses the question: how do you tune your senses amidst the constant noise of information about impending doom? How do we find meaning in a future that does not overflow with prosperity? We live in an age of multiple crises: advancing fascism, the climate emergency, racism, and anti-queer violence. Can we learn to accept the collapse of systems without relinquishing our protest against injustice? Can we heal ourselves by not only naming crises but truly feeling them?
What begins as a 'motivational speech' about overcoming an existential crisis ends as a cathartic immersion in noise.
Club Gewalt, the Rotterdam-based music-driven performance collective, tackles the big questions of our time with humour and musicality. Driven by a disdain for injustice and a passion for coming together, they create, compose, and perform their idiosyncratic productions. This is their first time in Belgium.
