Amatorski explores human-nature dynamics in emotionally charged ecological performance.
Curves and Bends, Things Veer is the latest album from Amatorski. Inspired by Timothy Morton’s All Art is Ecological, it is all about the relationship between humans and nature. Conducted by Inne Eyserman, the band delves deep into the complex nature of our reality, from global events such as the visible consequences of global warming to the pandemic. Visual artist Winnie Claessens gives the music of Curves and Bends, Things Veer a physical shape in delicate miniatures, while scenographer Lucas Van Haesbroeck brings these installations to life.
In a XL version tailor-made for Dear Antwerp, it becomes more than a musical performance but an exchange of ideas, sounds, dialogue and visual art. With the central question: what is the impact of art on our world? And vice-versa, what is the impact of our world on art? Eyserman offers a glimpse into the album’s creative process, with a focus on its sources of inspiration. This links to a sound trail, lecture performance and the concert. Expect a full-evening programme that invites you to slow down and reflect together in the middle of the city festival.
Please note: This event takes place at Sint-Rochusstraat 45, 2000 Antwerp (Rochus campus, Tropical Institute).
