Aranis gets into bed with music that defies definition. More raw, but also more beautiful than ever before. They mix up their usual team by engaging the percussionist David Kerman for the occasion. 'Voltage' is a raw work by Aranis' in-house composer Joris Vanvinckenroye. It promises to be powerful stuff. Shady melodies are interspersed with threatening rhythms, rough solos and compelling improvisation. Art Rock that makes you think of Univers Zero, but equally refers to the impact and energy of anything ranging from Kimmo Pohjonen to The Bad Plus. In between the new pieces, Aranis plays a Wim Henderickx score. Especially for the occasion, he has revised 'Variations', his first symphonic work from 1988. The young symphony musicians complete the programme with a selection from their own repertoire.
