The Brussels-based quartet Bombataz is impossible to pigeon-hole. At their own discretion, these four musical all-rounders take elements from every possible genre, ranging from a strip of jazz and a lick of danceable funk to a pinch of synth hop, in order to eventually arrive at an incomparable cocktail that is equally danceable at any time. On their first EP '¡Kapao!', out with Fake Records, Bombataz delivers an almost impossible balance with enviable ease. At times they sound spectacularly virtuoso, and at others funny and playful. Sometimes they are icily melancholic, only to seamlessly segue into mad vocal effects and perplexing samples. Where other groups would quickly go at it mercilessly after rounding the first bend, Bombataz keeps a tight grip on the steering wheel during a wonderful ride through their world. The first single, 'Frankenstein', already proves that this electrifying sound could easily cross beyond Belgium’s borders. The four musicians are also skilled at carrying their voyage of discovery through into their live shows, in which they expertly and nonchalantly bring the house down.
