Is part of
Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Beethoven’s Eroica in a blazing performance
Il Giardino Armonico and the NFM Choir are once again joining forces for some of classical music's crown jewels: Mozart and Beethoven. Major political changes colored European history, the background, and sometimes even the approach of the gems on this program.
Under the baton of Giovanni Antonini—a conductor who takes risks, unleashes energy, and keeps the listener on the edge of their seat—this music takes on a sparkling glow. Known for its historical insight and daring interpretations, the ensemble brings out the expressive contrasts in Mozart's music, from the theatricality of Idomeneo to the royal festivity of the Coronation Mass.
The final notes of the Coronation Mass still linger as Beethoven's republican heroism fills the hall with his unparalleled Eroica: a symphony that pushed boundaries, broke conventions, and changed music history forever—just like the political ideals it embodies. Long live the people, long live democracy!
This concert will be recorded by Radio Klara and broadcast on 16 October 2025 at 20:00 on the Klara Live programme.
19:00-19:45 Kick-off 1414 Concerts / Flute Quartets (Music)
Kunstenplein
Valerie Burndorfer (flute), Eduardo Brandi (violin), Abraham Constantino Noguera (viola) and Myriam Baumann (cello) will kick off the Opening Weekend with flute quartets by Mozart and Haydn.
