Marc Ribot is known for his work with Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, John Zorn and Wim Vandekeybus. On stage, in addition to his guitar, there is not only a great amount of electronic equipment, but also a chair on which Ribot will sit and not leave for the rest of the concert. Occasionally stepping on a pedal, hunched over his instrument, hidden behind his music stand, he conjures up screaming, growling solos, interspersed with peaceful, melodious passages. Bassist Harry Grimes propels the trio with his compelling playing, strong and hard, but also with some soft accents. His marvellous, extraterrestrial grooves lay a strong rhythmic foundation. Grimes is a scatterbrain, a child with a bass, endearing to watch and breathtaking to listen to. Chad Taylor's drumming is wonderfully strong, rhythmic and subtle. The complete, tight group sound, the exciting build-up and the enthusiasm of the musicians ensure a performance which will definitely linger long in the memory.
