With her ensemble Hathor, gambist Romina Lischka creates new concert forms in which music from East and West is woven into a poetic whole using image and sound. For this performance, a ceremony of the famous Whirling Dervishes serves as the starting point. This Sufi order was founded by followers of the poet Rumi. Their prayer consists of rotating around their axes in order to draw closer to God through ecstasy. Footage of the Whirling Dervishes is accompanied by Turkish music and baroque improvisations that resonate with this.
