Astrid Sweeney / Weixin Chong
Ontogenesis Dreams
In a hybrid performance installation, Astrid Tetsche Sweeney takes you on an existential journey. Sculptures and scenography by Weixin Quek Chong create a sensory landscape in which a creature — lost in its natural habitat — dismantles itself and is reborn, moving like a plant, a machine, and an insect.
Inspired by the molting of insects, queer ecologies, and the visionary world of Octavia E. Butler’s Xenogenesis trilogy, this performance explores the transience of the body and our relationship with organic matter.
Immerse yourself in a post-apocalyptic experience where body and landscape merge, and where form, movement, and material speak a new language.
Astrid Tetsche Sweeney and Weixin Quek Chong developed the project ontogenesis dreams with us in 2023. They now present the outcome on tour – and we are proud to welcome them at the END_25 festival.
