Fien Leysen & Manu Siebens
Numi Yaldati
Fien Leysen tells the story of two women connected by a diary in Numi Yaldati
INSTALLATION
Installation to be visited in 45-minute slots for 4 bubbles of maximum 2 contact persons.
Numi Yaldati (Sleep, my sweet girl) is a striking installation focused around audio. For this coproduction with deSingel, Fien Leysen drew inspiration from the Fierensblokken in Antwerp. This modernistic building - once a luxurious place - fell into decay. This inspired Leysen to write a fictitious story about real-life themes such as poverty, family, loss, love, war and peace, and how these things so often resemble each other.
A homeless woman tries to escape the freezing cold. She seeks shelter in an empty apartment building. There, in a cupboard, she finds the old diary of a Jewish woman who lived there during the war. The two eras and stories slowly become intertwined. From a distance, they are almost indistinguishable.
This installation can be visited in blocks of maximum 45 minutes. 8 people may visit the installation at any one time. A host will guide you and disinfect everything before and after your visit.
