1h 30' "Of all that is written, I love only what a person hath written with his blood. Write with blood, and thou wilt find that blood is spirit", thus Nietzsche in 'Thus spoke Zarathustra'. The artist Jan Fabre and blood go back a long way: in 1978, he made drawings in blood. An exploration of the body as the link between the exterior and interior worlds, between the individual and his surroundings, stood at the core of the solo performance 'My body, my blood, my landscape'. Blood was the 'ink', rich in symbolic connotation. The location finally made the difference. In Fall 2001, Jan Fabre was invited to produce a performance for the Cour d'Honneur of the Palais des Papes in Avignon. He was asked to incorporate the history of this monumental Middle Age stronghold, time and again the scene of bloodshed, in his text and production. On stage, twenty-one actors, dancers and musicians form a collective body, which brings to mind the obsession of the frenzied, orgiastic, morality play of the late Middle Ages. 'Je suis sang (conte de fées médiéval)' will finally perform in the deSingel in a version modified for the Red Hall.
