Jan Lauwers - Needcompany

Under the title 'No Comment', director Jan Lauwers and his troupe Needcompany created a theatre production consisting of three monologues and a dance solo, performed by four women, each in a different setting. 'No Comment' refers to the title of a programme on the Euronews television channel that shows footage shot all over the world without adding any background information or commentary. Charles Mee, Josse De Pauw, on commission to Needcompany, and Jan Lauwers, wrote 'Salome' for Carlotta Sagna, 'The Tea Drinker' for Grace Ellen Barkey, and 'Ulrike' for Viviane De Muynck. Six composers - Rombout Willems, Doachim Mann, Walter Hus, Senjan Jansen, Hans Petter Dahl and Felix Seger - collaborated on the music for Tijen Lawton's dance solo. Formally, the production evolves from constructed visual drama to pure text theatre without visual elements.
