In a recent edition of 'The Village Voice', Nature Theater of Oklahoma was proclaimed one of New York's most talented alternative companies. The two leaders of the collective, Pavol Liska and Kelly Copper, create pieces which, as they themselves say, they have no idea how to go about making. They set out from the most unusual starting points and thus produce work that is distinguished by great originality. The text for the musical 'Life and Times - episode 1' is a telephone conversation, recorded and written down word for word, in which one of the members of the collective talks about the first eight years of her life. The ultimate aim is to make 'Life and Times' into a ten-part project in which this woman reveals her whole life. The best way to describe this narrative, in the same genre as Proust's 'À la recherche du temps perdu', is an excursion into the past of someone like you and me. Funny, wayward and moving, it is quite simply an unforgettable musical.
