1h 15' Ricardo Bartis is the figurehead of independent theatre in Argentina. In his writing, which is melancholy and often absurd, the writer/director frequently refers to a darker period in the history of his country, namely the dictatorship in the nineteen-seventies when more than thirty-five thousand of his countrymen disappeared. Or the mothers of the Plaza del Mayo who still commemorate the disappearance of their fathers, spouses and sons every Thursday at four o'clock precisely. In 'La Pesca' (the catch) three fishermen go down into the cellars of an abandoned factory. An underground connection with the River Maldonado has created a huge lake, almost three metres deep. Here Miguel Angel, Don Atilio and René make one more attempt to catch 'tarariras'. Catching these gigantic carnivorous trout is an explosive operation. Moreover, pollution and toxic waste water have caused the fish to mutate. As the fish pond dried up they made their way through the sewers to the centre of power in the city where they eagerly found food. Until they became completely murderous and began to devour each other. Trying to catch them proves to be a highly dangerous enterprise. Where will it all end?
