Peter A.A. Swinnen

Peter Swinnen (°1972, woont in Brussel), architect.
Hij studeerde aan het Hoger Instituut Sint Lucas in Brussel en aan de Architectural Association in Londen. Hij werkte bij T.O.P. office, Antwerpen, Foreign Office Architects, Londen en Christian Kieckens Architect, Brussel. In 1998 richtte hij in Brussel samen met Freek Persyn en Johan Anrys het bureau 51N4E op. Zij realiseerden onder meer volgende projecten: verkaveling Athletica in Ooigem, herinrichting Groeningenmuseum in Brugge en Re-Park Brussel. Peter Swinnen doceerde aan het Hoger Instituut Sint Lucas Brussel (1999) en aan de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (2000). In 2001 presenteerde 51N4E zijn werk voor het eerst in een solotentoonstelling in Netwerk Galerij Aalst. In 2003 ontvingen zij zowel de Architectuurprijs Woningbouw Provincie Vlaams Brabant als ook de Maaskantprijs voor jonge architecten in Rotterdam. Aan deze laatste prijs is ook een publicatie verbonden die einde 2003 verschijnt.

Peter Swinnen (b. 1972, lives in Brussels), architect.
He studied at St Luke's Higher Institute in Brussels and at the Architectural Association in London. He worked at T.O.P. office in Antwerp, Foreign Office Architects in London and for the architect Christian Kieckens in Brussels. In 1998 he set up the 51N4E firm in Brussels together with Freek Persyn and Johan Anrys. They have had the following projects built: Athletica housing estate in Ooigem, the redesign of the Groeningen Museum in Bruges and the Re-Park in Brussels. Peter Swinnen taught at St Luke's Higher Institute in Brussels (1999) and at the Technical University of Eindhoven (2000). In 2001, 51N4E presented his work in his first one-man exhibition at Netwerk Galerij in Aalst. In 2003 they won both the Architectuurprijs Woningbouw (Architectural Prize for Housing) from the Province of Flemish Brabant and the Maaskant Prize for young architects, in Rotterdam. There is a publication linked to this latter prize, which will appear in late 2003.
