For ‘Cry Jailolo’, the talented Eko Supriyanto created a captivating piece with seven young male dancers from Jailolo, a village in the bay of the Moluccas. They worked on it for three years. The result is a contemporary interpretation of traditional dances. An expression of admiration for communities that are seeing their coral reefs disappearing. A call for a return of fishing in the bay. Dancey, contemporary, powerful. ‘Cry Jailolo’ is all of these.
