Most of Melati Suryodarmo’s oeuvre deals with the relationship between the human body, the culture of which it is a part and the circumstances in which it lives. For ‘Sisyphus’, she is for the first time working with dancers. Together with them she studies shamanist practices, which are still very prevalent in Indonesia. An intermediate presentation gives an impression of what you can expect: a work of stunning form, with live music and the very best dancers.
