But also in the midst of constant traffic congestion, pollution and slums. At night, traditional Indonesian shows and the sounds of the gamelan compete with the beats of cutting-edge nightclubs.

The contemporary choreographers we are presenting in ‘Stop in Java’ create their productions in the middle of all these contradictions.
