Have a Safe Travel tells the story of a train ride. It could have been an ordinary trip for Eli Mathieu-Bustos, until three policemen stopped him and asked for his passport. Immersed in the memory of this event, which is as banal as it is violent, we discover how an oppressive system operates.
In his first solo, the choreographer transforms systemic violence into strong, singular performative material, developed using a technique conceptualised by the artist himself: De Caelo. Through De Caelo, a personal experience becomes embodied knowledge, which the spectator can see, feel and understand. In Have a Safe Travel, dance becomes a conduit for the flow of empathy.
