Radiant Nights #10
Collective Memories
Four times a season, Radiant Nights is a space for creation and experimentation. For two whole days, artists take over a part of the building. For the tenth (!) edition, we invite Audrey Merilus as guest curator. The text below will take you through her programme.
‘Radiant Nights #10 invites us to dive into a journey: re-scaling our notion of commoning, offering an attempt to experience empathy in a space oscillating between intimacy and togetherness.
Over the course of these two evenings, the artists will afford us an insight into their work. The programme will be articulated around several happenings: four captivating performances and a Collective Listening Session.
Numerous artists will use parts of the building as sites for an exhibition that includes visuals, sculptures and textiles; and for a library and bar that serve as convivial settings for reading, sharing, and conversations.
The upcoming edition of this curation reflects a profound desire to bring together artists from diverse artistic backgrounds.
As a performer involved in the field, this project served as an extension of my own artistic journey, and was driven by a genuine curiosity to connect with people and take a deeper look at their work and practices. Furthermore, it serves as a platform for extending networks, and for fostering an environment conducive to artistic and social exchange.
Highly informed by the negotiation between the institutional framework and the eclectic body of work of the participating artists.
The envisioned space will not only be a physical location, but also a conceptual framework that encourages communal initiatives and dialogue; converging with the idea of maintaining the proposal's integrity while shaping the programme into that setting.
It therefore felt very important to take a thoughtful approach to crafting a cohesive programme that would intuitively resonate with concerns and wishes that I have within the field. How can we enlarge the access to resources? To which extent can personal integrity align with one’s artistic practice, and how does it operate in relation to sustainability ?
I hope it can lead to ways of nurturing a sense of commitment to building together, recognising both the flaws and benefits inherent in such a communal endeavour.
Looking forward to welcoming you to the tenth edition of Radiant Nights.’
