During Radiant Nights #10, Bicoli lands in DE SINGLE. Bicoli is a self-managed feminist library that opened its doors in 2021 in Brussels. The collective was assembled out of a desire to collect and share books and resources with a critical and reflexive approach. Bicoli hopes to offer a selection that differs from what is usually found in the mainstream feminist section of a bookshop.
The library is located in a shared house and opens four times a month for people to come by to read, borrow books, and find information on a wide, carefully classified range of topics. It's a welcoming space that reflects the belief in autonomous forms of education; a space where people can meet, exchange, and learn at their own pace. Over the years, the project has expanded, thanks to continuous encounters and discussions with different communities and cultural institutions in Brussels. Bicoli organizes collective reading sessions and film screenings, and has intervened within educational and exhibitional frameworks.
Our library includes essays, fanzines, novels, poetry, children's books, graphic novels, art books and magazines. We try to place a particular emphasis on gathering and finding works and publications written by communities and authors that are too often rendered invisible. Welcome!
