The other? That’s us. But where do we meet? In Post Orientalist Express, the grande dame of Korean contemporary dance, Eun-Me Ahn, invites you on a jubilant journey between East and West. Every performance by Ahn promises a unique, vibrant, and enchanting experience - and this time is no exception.
Rooted in shamanistic rituals, and trained in contemporary dance in Korea and the United States, Ahn has developed a distinctive visual language. In this production, she delves into Asia's rich dance and visual traditions, simultaneously celebrating, magnifying, and questioning them. For centuries, "the East" has been surrounded by exotic fantasies - both in the West and within Asia itself.
On stage, folk legends, traditional costumes, pop culture, and contemporary dance collide. Ahn plays with clichés, distorts them, and sometimes pushes them to the absurd. The result is a colourful and explosive universe in which diverse perspectives coexist and new cultural identities take shape.
