Jan Martens studied at the Fontys Hogeschool in Tilburg before completing his dance training at the Royal Flemish Conservatoire in Antwerp. Since then, he has taken international stages and audience’s hearts by storm. The beauty of human imperfection is given a prominent role in his work.
The 2011 production ‘Sweat baby sweat’ is a performance about love. Jan Martens drew his inspiration from the concentration, tension and symbolism of circus acrobatics. Two people hang onto each other like parasites. Letting go and leaving is not an option, because it’s better with two of you than it is alone…
