Despite his youth, Jonah Bokaer, born in New York in 1981, can already boast an impressive list of awards. He was the youngest ever dancer to be part of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company. After seven years, in December 2007, he left the company to begin work on a passage of choreography for an opera by Bob Wilson. Together with Jeremy Wade, he founded 'Chez Bushwick', a dance studio which was unanimously acclaimed by the New York press as the location for the New York avant-garde scene. In his solo performance 'Charada', he uses software he became familiar with while at Merce Cunningham. The result is a dance performance in which this highly talented choreographer and dancer simultaneously appears both virtually and in reality, as both puppet and puppeteer.
