mamaza & Ensemble Nikel

Last season you got to know mamaza as our Artiste Associé. Ioannis Mandafounis, Fabrice Mazliah and May Zarhy presented new and existing work for a whole season in deSingel and on location. They also worked on a new creation in combination with live music in our Theatre Studio. For this they approached the Ensemble Nikel. Mamaza believes that cooperation is crucial to their artistic development. Two members of this four-member international music group are participating: Yaron Deutsch and Reto Staub. Once again mamaza has chosen perception and sensibility as its theme. What is the relationship between looking, feeling and hearing? Together with Nikel they explore the tension between the visual and physical in the choreographic space they create. 'The Nikel Project' is a creation in which neither dance nor music is approached one hundred percent. Hard sounding images and visible sounds are the result of the confrontation between the music and its manifestation on stage. Mamaza and Ensemble Nikel invite you both to observe the whole and to question it. After all, you are the actively involved observer in their story...
