Hilmar Jensson (b. 1966) and Skuli Sverrisson (b. 1966) form the Icelandic half of Alas No Axis. At deSingel the two of them play their own supporting programme, 'Kjár'. Hilmar Jensson may be a jazz guitar player, but his harmonious choices, textures and rhythms are also related to experimental rock and post-grunge. His partner in crime, Skuli Sverrisson, lives and works in New York. He experiments with sound, rhythm and electronic distortion, and is happy to be inspired by rock and jazz as well as academics like John Cage: 'I want to squeeze out as much sound out as I can'. This is mere child's play for someone who is hoping to find the unexpected in their jazz.
