Tino Sehgal (b. 1976) studied economics and dance. In addition to this he is also active as an artist. '(Untitled) 2001' is a cross between dance practice and art. In '(Untitled) 2001' Sehgal attempts to make a museum of his own body. He does this by dancing classical figures from the history of dance starting with the early twentieth century and ending with the present, all entirely naked. The solo is not so much a pastiche as a sophisticated and serious (but not earnest) study of standard movements and authorship. Tino Sehgal has worked as a dancer for Xavier Le Roy, Les Ballets C. de la B., Jérôme Bel and others. He has worked independently as a choreographer since 1998. In the art world too he is a rising star. His work can be seen in theatres, museums and galleries.
