Tomorrow Will Be Too Late
Reflections on climate change in dance, theatre and music
Tue 15 Oct 2024 - Wed 30 Oct 2024
Artistic reflection on climate change, through innovative music, theatre and dance
With the Tomorrow Will Be Too Late festival, we reflect on art and ecology, on the changing climate in an ending world and the growing inequality that this leads to. Indian-American writer Amitav Ghosh described the climate crisis as ‘a crisis of the imagination'. Our inability to imagine what is coming our way leads to stagnation and delays in committees, chambers and parliaments. What if tomorrow is late?
The Encounter Iced Sound 2.0 pavilion introduces you to fragile landscapes that change rapidly as a result of human actions. Italian choreographer Chiara Bersani and her performers invite you into the undergrowth of an imaginary forest. String ensemble BRYGGEN presents the iconic WEATHER by the American composer Michael Gordon, a true cult hit. In Wasted Land Cele Ntando explores fast fashion as an expression of contemporary colonialism and focuses on Western ideas about sustainability and ecology. With C la vie, Serge Aimé Coulibaly offers an antidote to a self-destructive modern world and celebrates the countless possibilities for coming together. And the acclaimed Become trilogy by John Luther Adams is in good hands with NFM Wrocław Philharmonic; the beauty of rivers, deserts and oceans has never been expressed so intensely!
