4DSOUND: groundbreaking spatial sound installations and sculptural lighting designs
In January 2025 we first welcomed 4DSOUND, a studio that specialises in sound spatialisation. In our Theatre Studio, they presented live performances, a lighting design by Nick Verstand and a masterclass for the students ofthe Royal Conservatoire Antwerp about the possibilities of spatial music.
Now that this collaboration is entering its second season, you can expect live concerts with brand-new compositions, completely immersive listening sessions, and practical masterclasses and workshops on how to harness sound as a creative medium. The concrete programme will follow at a later date, but we can already promise that Nick Verstand will once again be joining us with his characteristic sculptural lighting design.
4DSOUND develops groundbreaking sound installations, in which the sound can move freely through the three-dimensional space, delivering a dynamic and highly immersive listening experience. By developing its own technology, and through a close collaboration with innovative artists, 4DSOUND has built up a dynamic international network of creatives, technicians, studios and organisations who specialise in music, art, education and research.
To continue our dialogue, we keep on working with contemporary, often classically inspired music, and we reject the idea that music must always be presented in the same way. We want to view the relationship between the audience and the performer differently, create opportunities for interaction with architectural spatial soundscapes, and thus offer a fresh take on the concept of a concert.
