Kaja Draksler blends improvisation and composition in her vibrant octet
The Slovenian pianist and composer Kaja Draksler combines composition and improvisation, based on a wide range of styles, locations and historical periods, and draws inspiration from the possibilities and talent provided by her colourful, international octet. In the meantime, the group has released several successful albums, including Gledalec(2017), their second record Out for Stars - featuring the poetry of Robert Frost - andBare, Unfolding, the lyrics for which were written by Matsuo Basho.
With her octet, Kaja Draksler wants to implement a number of her ideas from her jazz and classical composition studies, and from her experiences as an active improviser.
