On Sunday, May 10, composer Georg Friedrich Haas’ unique concert
11,000 Strings will take place at the majestic Handelsbeurs: a monumental sound installation featuring 50 pianos tuned microtonally to one another. Klangforum Wien and students from the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp will merge into one gigantic body of sound.
On this occasion, De Cinema and De Singel will screen
The Artist & The Pervert, a documentary about Georg Friedrich Haas, perhaps the most important living composer of symphonic music. Front and center is his relationship with Molina, his partner, whom he met through the dating site Ok Cupid, who is an African-American BDSM mistress.
Their deep and kinky relationship is based on an open but controversial role play between a white male master and his Black female muse and slave. The politically incorrect racial sex games and the anything but gender-normative kink practices underline their radical form of self-determination.
The provocative but also heartwarming
The Artist & The Pervert follows the couple for a year in which their relationship is put under pressure by the election of Donald Trump. The film is a groundbreaking document of life at the intersection of art, politics, and love.
