A symbiosis of music and technology; robotic arms dance with Cello Octet Amsterdam.
COCON is a live performance in which the members of the Cello Octet Amsterdam play together with robotic arms, created by Nick Verstand. Eight cellists are surrounded by the same number of robotic arms which form a moving cocoon, a platform for works by internationally renowned artists such as Caterina Barbieri, Kara-Lis Coverdale, Abul Mogard & KMRU, Jesse Broekman and Qasim Naqvi. This unique collaboration between man and machine unfolds to the rhythm of the music, creating a fascinating mix of light, sound and movement. The performance symbolises the interaction between humanity and Mother Earth, in which our creations and destructions coexist. COCON asks us an urgent question: will we destroy our source of life, or will we find harmony with nature?
