Roomful of Teeth: pioneering vocal acrobatics with global fusion influences.
The Grammy-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth from New York delves into the amazingly expressive possibilities of the human voice. Through collaborations with artists, intellectuals and local leaders from all over the world, the group offers a fascinating take on vocal expressions. After their performance at DE SINGEL in 2022, Roomful of Teeth this time presents new compositions that blur the boundaries between cultures. The programme features tunes inspired by birdsong, Sardinian songs, and moving love stories by the Puerto Rican composer and sound artist Angélica Negrón. They will also perform On Stochastic Wave Behaviour, in which the Hawaiian composer Leilehua Lanzilotti explores new sounds and thus brings to live the voice of the Kanaka Maoli.
