Her powerful afro pop harks back to the rich musical tradition of the West African region of Wassoulou, to which she adds hearty Western rock. Her engaged texts sing of the dignity of women and the beauty of the African continent. Her 2022 EP proves how proud she is of her Malian heritage. This glowing album is inspired by the valuable old Timbuktu manuscripts which had to be taken to safety away from militant rebels.
