OPEN CALL: For this opera production, we are looking for female extras (f/x) of all ages. The performance would take approximately 15 minutes within the entire opera (19th of September). There will be two rehearsals on 17 & 18 September. You do not need to be able to sing: the role is more like an extra/figurant, involving a few small movements. Experience is a plus, but certainly not required. Please sign up here!
ZAN is a new opera by Fleur Khani about the yearning for liberation that is never fully realised. The work unfolds in a fragmented landscape of voices, mirrors, and electronics. Languages merge, time shifts and distorts. What appears as history simultaneously feels like the reality of today.
In ZAN, the voice takes centre stage as a space that cannot be taken away, yet is constantly under pressure. In her musical compositions, Kimia Koockackzadeh-Yazdi blends different spiritual traditions spiritual traditions, contemporary electronic music, mourning, trance, rage, and tenderness. It moves between destruction and devotion, between technological coldness and ecstatic intensity.
Light and scenography reference Ayeneh-Kari, the Persian art of mirror mosaics. These reflective surfaces depict a fragmented collective identity and the longing to be seen as we truly are.
