Caroline Shaw joins the singing in this intriguing auditory theatre. Vocal acrobatics!
The American composer and singer Caroline Shaw is at home in many markets. Her fascination with the voice (“a single voice is a hundred instruments”) led to Partita for 8 Voices, amongst others. The vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth, as unconventional as its performers, switches nimbly between spoken singing and polyphony. Shaw joins in with the singing as well as performing The Little Match Girl Passion, David Lang’s masterpiece based on Andersen’s well-known fairy tale. Incidentally, he won the coveted Pulitzer Prize for this. Vocal acrobatics and intriguing auditory theatre go hand in hand. Not to be missed!
