A visionary symbiosis between performance and installation

Words cannot describe the many talents and merits of the composer, musician, singer, producer, actor and activist Ryuichi Sakamoto. He has won all the big international awards for his film music. He created the soundtrack for the Summer Olympics in 1992 and has released dozens of albums as a solo artist and with his Yellow Magic Orchestra, from electronic music to contemporary classical and everything in between. When he was working on his LIFE in 1999, he encountered the multidisciplinary artist Shiro Takatani. Since then, this successful duo have been taking the major museums and theatres by storm with breathtaking installations and performances. In their latest project TIME, in co-production with DE SINGEL, Sakamoto explores the theme of time. “Music, work and life all have a beginning and an end. What I now want to make is music that is liberated from the limitations of time”, Sakamoto said. TIME is thus a visionary symbiosis of performance and installation, in which sensual performances alternate with grand prophecies.
