ONLY HERE BECAUSE YOU ARE is a short film program that takes us to places of reconnection with the living, breathing world. With attention for ancient myths - or a desire for new rituals - the filmmakers explore how we are only human in conviviality with what is not human. The sun, the forest and the garden are protagonists in stories about (queer) love and resistance.

In the middle of the Colombian coffee region, Aribada, the resurrected monster, meets Las Traviesas, a group of indigenous transwomen from the Embera people. Enchanted by the beauty and power of their jais (spirits), Aribada decides to join Las Traviesas in creating their own trans*futurist community.

Gesamthof / A lesbian garden is an art - nature project that lives between the walls of an old Antwerp monastery. We follow gardener and artist Eline De Clercq as she relates the garden to topics such as botanical colonialism, the ambiguity of naming, the social expectations of women and the search for a lesbian identity.

The Institute of Queer Ecology
Emergence is the final part of Metamorphosis, a three-part short film series by The Institute of Queer Ecology to restructure the way the world is presented and how it functions today. Inspired by the life cycles of holometabolous insects (insects that undergo complete metamorphosis), the film aims to trigger a planetary transformation; from the prevailing extractive relationship with the earth to one characterised by regeneration and care. In this process, queerness is as important a strategy as imagination, rooted in a history of alternative worlds of mutual support and care flourishing in the spaces below and between them.
