Flanders' literary bruiser, author and performer Tom Lanoye will be presenting excerpts from 'Fort Europa' and 'Het derde huwelijk'. The play 'Fort Europa' is set in a nameless station around 2020. The old continent is washed out, used up and many of its inhabitants - an array of varied characters - are packing their bags. The text incorporates themes and 'leitmotifs' written in such a way that they can be spoken or written as separate passages. A gift for the reader, but also for the writer, who reads aloud with great relish and verve. In his latest novel, 'Het derde huwelijk', Tom Lanoye also refers to a stale-smelling Europe. De Morgen newspaper describes this language virtuoso's earlier prose as 'A contemporary 'Sorrow of Belgium' with the fervour of a divine comedy'.
