Lands of Concert is an artistic playground, an attempt at a new sustainable system.
In 2015, the Japanese-Korean artist Jija Sohn became the first choreographer to be selected for Moving Forward Trajectory, a residency project for promising new makers. For several years now, her work has been devoted to exploring human connections and relationships, which has resulted among other things in the community-based project Lands of Concert. In a performative setting, the audience is invited to be part of a landscape of ‘sublime acts’. Movement, sounds and objects constantly shift, causing the original boundaries to blur. Lands of Concert is an artistic playground. But above all, it is an invitation to change the experience of the immediate present in which we find ourselves. Through this performance, Sohn and her artistic partners Andrea Zavala Folache, Lucy Wilke and Oneka von Schrader try to develop a new sustainable system: a system that primarily focuses on care, meaning and the needs and perspectives of others.
Lands of Concert is a Relaxed performance. The hall lights are never fully switched off, the hall doors remain open (latecomers are welcome and you can always go to the toilet), you can make noise, there is no loud music, and there are no unexpected effects such as explosions or flashes of light.
* You can combine this performance with Untitled (Holding Horizon) and Avoirdupois (Friday) or Software Garden (Saturday).
