Sound as a living organism, as a form of corporality. That's what laptop musicians and sound developers Christoph De Boeck (Audiostore) and Yves De Mey's (Eavesdropper) work is all about.
'Time Code Matter' compiles a series of performances around sound and light that they produce together with lighting engineer Arne Lievens.
They presented the first version of 'Time Code Matter' at the Concert Hall in Bruges. During dedonderdagen you can catch them in deSingel's Blue Hall. The audience and the performers share the stage while behind them lies the vast emptiness of the main hall like a gigantic resonating body. Together light and sound form an experience that is both auditory and spatial. In this way they create a world somewhere between menace and intimacy. A change of mere frequencies can change the experience.
Eavesdropper and Audiostore recently set up 'Stem', a label for surround audio that publishes music that has been mixed for 5.1 surround speakers. Their first release is an audio DVD with a 5.1 mix of their 'Time Code Matter' performance.
