Hans Bryssinck studied at the Academy of Art in Ghent and at DasArts in Amsterdam. His main activity is as a maker of plays and performances. Dolores Bouckaert has worked as an actress for many years in theatre, film and television. She has worked at Victoria and with Wayn Traub.
After their cooperation during the 2000 Time Festival, Dolores asked Hans to create a solo performance for her. 'Dying in Style' is located on a film set. We see a film actress at work, who has to die over and over again, differently each time. Through the various death scenes, meticulously designed and with appropriate music, a portrait of a woman emerges, an actress who muses and reflects on life. She may be on the point of dying... or is in the middle of the process of dying, or has actually already passed over... Half-dead, she freely associates and dissociates, tacking between pathos and lucidity. The borderline between her imagined and her real death, between the attempt and the achievement, seems slowly to fade. Sometimes she vanishes into her own silhouette, and in the end she is nothing more than a shadow.
