Immersive soundscapes and sculptural light art
Wed 06 May - Sat 09 May
4DSOUND returns: spatial sound, live performances and immersive listening.
In January 2025 we welcomed spatial sound studio 4DSOUND for the first time to our TheaterStudio with live performances, light-design by Nick Verstand and a masterclass introducing the students of the KCA to the possibilities of spatial music.
We are grateful for our collaboration, now going into its second season, with a slightly larger program that allows us to be more explorative: expect live concerts featuring brand-new commissions, fully immersive listening sessions, and hands-on masterclasses and workshops designed to explore spatial sound as a creative medium. Nick Verstand will deliver his signature sculptural light design.
4DSOUND develops cutting-edge sound systems that allow sound to move freely in three-dimensional space, creating dynamic and fully immersive listening environments. Through the development of custom-made technology and close collaboration with innovative artists, the studio fosters a dynamic international network of creatives, engineers, studios, and institutions within the fields of music, art, education, and research.
Further pursuing our dialogue, we will continue engaging with contemporary, often classically-read music repertoire and challenge the thought of the often stagnant presentation of music. We want to reconsider the relation between audience and performer, let them engage in the architectural spatial soundscapes and explore a fresh outlook on the concert format.
