Experience 4DSOUND: listening session & artist talk with Adriaan de Roover.
We invite you to a day of listening, conversation, and hands-on exploration of spatial sound hosted at DE SINGEL.
The day opens with a masterclass, bringing together perspectives from the 4DSOUND studio: Poul Holleman (co-founder and director) on the vision behind 4DSOUND and the development of custom tools, including Canto Ostinato at DE SINGEL with Aart Strootman and Helena Basilova; Roman Willems (composer, creative engineer) on tools and interfaces for the system; and Marijn Cinjee (composer, creative engineer) on spatial sound in XR, VR, and immersive art.
The afternoon continues with a listening session of Why does my refrigerator sound like birds? a composition by Belgian artist Adriaan de Roover, composed in 2023. Afterwards Adriaan and Gilles Helsen (STUK Leuven) will discuss the piece.
This event welcomes music technologists, composers, performers, sound designers, audiovisual artists, immersive media researchers, and anyone broadly curious about the present and future of spatial audio.
