The Arabian Star Wars and Dracula, combined with Eastern vocals and a solid beat: that’s what you can expect from the idiosyncratic band Love & Revenge. Rayess Bek, an Arabian hip-hop trailblazer, and video artist Randa Mirza present a tribute to the golden age of the Arabian film. Melodramatic film clips with kitschy idols from the olden days are dusted off and served up to a contemporary soundtrack. For their latest performance Glory, Mirza browsed obscure Arabian science fiction, horror and B-films with Western influences. Rayess Bek makes electropop versions of vintage Arabian songs, including those by the blind Saudi singer Ibtisam Lutfi.
