Berlin
Bonanza
Since 2003 Berlin has been making documentary theatre, somewhere between fiction and reality. Each project is preceded by meticulous and lengthy research. 'Bonanza' (2006), the production which gave the company its international breakthrough, is a film portrait of an abandoned mining town in Colorado (USA). Once there were six thousand inhabitants, surrounded by saloons and dance halls, under the motto: 'Get in, get rich, get out'.
Now there are only seven inhabitants who live in an atmosphere of gossip, accusation and fear.
We will be presenting this performance as part of Meeting Berlin. In the spring of 2017 the Antwerp-based company Berlin will make its festive entrance as ‘Creative Associate’ at deSingel. We will celebrate this by looking back at their early work.
