Meeting Berlin
The Berlin company is now ‘Creative Associate’ at deSingel and this calls for a huge celebration. The installation 'Iqaluit' (2005) refers to the capital city of the Inuit on the North Pole. It was with 'Bonanza' (2006), a film portrait of an abandoned mining town in Colorado (USA), that Berlin made its international breakthrough.
Berlin created ‘Jerusalem’ in 2003 and 2013; they revisited the city ten years after the first film recordings. Interviewees were tracked down, images superimposed, discussions repeated. What had changed the most? The city or the people?
'Perhaps All The Dragons' (2014) will be staged on the square outside the main entrance of deSingel. This performance has thirty different stories and is based on the theory that everyone on the planet is connected by way of six intermediate steps.
