Cinemaximiliaan started out as a pop-up cinema in Brussels’ Maximiliaanpark. What had begun with a single beamer grew into an operation both by and for newcomers. Now they are conquering Flanders’ major auditoria.
The film concert Egged On by Music brings together leading musicians from around the globe: from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Syria to Western Europe. They perform a fantastic live score to accompany the 1926 silent comedy Egged On. The experimental soundtrack mixes pop, jazz and rock with oriental influences. The film Egged On from slapstick legend Charley Bowers forms the backbone of this concert. In it, the main character attempts to construct a machine that makes eggs unbreakable. Egged On by Music thus becomes a groundbreaking adventure, both cinematographically and musically.
Party Egged On by Music is both the closing performance of Theatre Festival and the opening performance of the Monty season. Be sure to linger on after the concert, because Monty and Cinemaximiliaan will be treating you to a plate of food.
